I checked the WCOnline settings; it should not be possible for any
student to make more than two 30-minute appointments in a single week.
Any idea how she is getting in? is she actually on the online
schedule? I'd like to know, just in case I need to send this as a tech
problem to the Rich Co. people.
Also: is she (possibly) ADA? Of course, we don't get paperwork on such
students; and don't really need to. But I do remember working with a
student a year ago who was clearly unable to process information very
well; so, I redefined what we could do, and went as far as I could. We
don't need to worry beyond that, I think.
So, if she's limited to twice a week -- 30 minutes only each time, as
for everyone! -- she shouldn't be taking away time from HCC students.
Part of the thinking at writing centers, when they are "open," is that
it's good advertising for the institution overall. Most seem to follow
that policy, from my research -- at public institutions, anyway.
I will talk to Selena about how to make sure no one over-uses the
Writing Center; it's not being stingy -- it's encouraging independence
in students as writers. Too much help is not helpful.
