I have 2 adult first aid and CPR classes coming up in January. The
purpose of these classes is to help increase the number of volunteers
we have available to help in our emergency shelters when we open them

The 18th Citizens' Fire Academy will be starting on September 9,

American Red Cross Shelter Management Course

Please see the note below from the ARC regarding a shelter operations
course they are offering this weekend. This component is another
place where citizens who have completed CERT and are on board as a
volunteer with the County could help in a disaster. (Yes, I am still

Bill Jones is looking for assistance with the annual Virginia Fallen
Firefighter's Memorial service, scheduled for 06/01/2009 at 12 noon at
the Richmond International Raceway Complex. He needs assistance with
parking, meet and greet for attendees, and other logistical

Hi everyone!

Hope you and your lawns are enjoying this wonderful weather today!! Please see the note below from Amy Howard, our Volunteer Coordinator here with HFD, regarding the upcoming Citizen Fire Academy. This is an EXCELLENT opportunity to really see what our fire personnel do on a daily basis, and you get to do MORE than use a fire extinguisher. You get the chance to drive a fire truck Code 3, repel off a building, take a cruise on the James River in Marine 2...all in all, it's the best class outside of the CERT program!
