        This is a cool event for hackers of all kinds -  It would be great if we could get a HBRC table there and hack some robots.  We'd probably get a whole bunch of new members.  I plan to show up after 5 pm with my Turtlebot, working or not.

With regards to picking up new HBRC members, a simple web search of
"robots san jose" or "robots silicon valley" or "robots bay area"
will bring up the HBRC web page within the first 5 listed. The
question (rhetorical) is whether people who are interested in robotics
that live in the bay area would fail to do something as simple as
a Google search?

With regards to the meet up at Palantir, be fore warned that
finding a parking spot in Palo Alto can be quite challenging.
Palo Alto actively patrols for cars that have overstayed the
parking time limit. Just a heads up.

Dear President For Life Wayne,

I must respectfully disagree. We need to be physically present - How
many members to we attract from public events like Maker's Faire and Robot
Block party? I bet a lot more then people surfing the net. Seeing is
believing.

My cousin's son was a high school senior when he stopped by for a visit in
2000. I invited him to a FIRST Robotics scrimmage. Now this kid was
brilliant, he had 1780 SATs and could of went to any college he wanted to.
When he saw kids his age operating robots, his jaw almost literally hit the
floor. The only thing he said to me was afterward was: "Where can I go to do
this?" I told him MIT was a good choice. Five years later he had his
masters in ME from MIT and is now an engineer in Israel.

Now if his smarter younger brother happens to drop by Super Happy Dev House,
I'd like him to see someone from Homebrew with some working bots there.

At last years robogames I was lucky enough to meet someone involved with the fighting bots that took a good half hour to talk to me and give me a tour of the pits. At the end I said I'd love to build a robot but had no idea where to start. He mentioned HBRC and I said joining a club seemed intimidating since I knew nothing at all. Then he mentioned the tablebot challenge and how you build slowly like just sense the edge fist then move the length of the table then find a box and so on. That sounded more up my alley.

I have come to a few meetings, which were still intimidating BTW, and it's partly my fault for not getting into the garage often enough but I have started a bot and am hoping to bring it to this years tablebot challenge. But I would never have found this group if not for robogames and that there was already a plan to get you to start small and work your way up slowly.

Just my $0.05 cents. (Since I often speak out of turn.)
