All:
(Collectively, we totally dropped the ball on getting the
HBRobotics.Org web site updated for tonight's meeting.
We'll do better next time.)
Tonight's meeting is at 7pm. I am 98% sure that it is at
the Google Crusher Meeting room. I'll send out a follow
up message when I get final confirmation.
Tonight's talk is:
David Crawley and the Ubiquity_Robotics Team will review
the progress made so far, as well as some of the learning
principles that underpin the project. The ultimate goal
of the project is to develop an inexpensive hardware platform
capable of light domestic duty.
I'll add the 12 tasks of Hercules here:

We have a team of enthusiastic people who are co-learning about Robots
out of the Hacker Dojo in Mountain View.
In order to keep it interesting I have set a series of 12 challenges
targeted at the largest of our 2 robots (a 100lb powerchair bot called
hercules). There are small prizes along the way for people or small
sub-groups on the team who can meet some of the Challenges. We meet each
Saturday at 1:30pm at the hacker dojo (
http://www.hackerdojo.com/).
There is no requirement to join the Dojo for this event. In addition we
are there most nights of the week and Sunday.
So do come to one of our events, and if you care to hack any random
evening email me on call me on
+1 415 309 8966 and we can set it up.
The 12 Challenges are:
1 Drive around 3 cones
2 Deliver a pizza from the front door of the DOJO to a pre-determined
location in the Dojo.
3 Detect the face / body of the owner
4 Follow a predetermined target shape.
5 Follow a detected person to deliver a cooler of beer
6 Avoid someone / something when they/it falls in front of the robot
unexpectedly
7 Draw a chess board indoors (with washable chalk)
8 Deliver a cookie from one room in the DOJO to another room in the
dojo, through a non-predetermined route, avoiding unexpected obstacle
9 Drive around the DOJO for one week without crashing, hitting anyone or
getting lost saying hello to known people
10 Draw a chess board outdoors (with washable chalk)
11 Identify a bad guy in a line up of people
12 Drive around the DOJO for one week identifying every time a
predetermined bad guy shows up (recharges can be done manually)
They are designed to create learning and challenge and move the entire
group forward so if you join the group we have very simple rules to
maintain this spirit.
Rules for the challenge:
1) Once a challenge is done, you give the code to me and I will release
it to all the other teams who are actively working on it.
2) I will arbitrate

We hope you can come tonight.
