Hi Everyone!

I'm new to this group, just wanted to say hello and ask a quick question.  I've been wanting to start building robots... finally getting around to it since I graduated from college 3 years ago and moved to San Jose. But, im realizing I don't really know where I can go now to actually work on something.  (was a lot easier in school with the student machine shop and scrap material everywhere).

Do you all have any recommendations on how I can start? I have my own garage but not really any tools.  I noticed one option could be techshop san jose which is near me, but was curious what other people do.

Any other help or info on where to start with building robots would be appreciated! I would love to make it out to one of your meets sometime, just hard finding time in my schedule usually.

Thanks!
William

William,

A number of club members use TechShop, myself included. TechShop
provides a pretty nice facility if it is reasonably close to you and
fits your budget. The SJ shop is particularly nice.

Emmanuel,

The SIG is held the next to last Wednesday every month at TechShop in
Menlo Park. (As pointed out, it was last night for this month) It's
free and you don't have to be a member of either TechShop or Homebrew to
attend. If you're looking to check out TechShop, attending the SIG does
not give you license to wander around the facility. Just go to the
front desk at TechShop during business hours and they'll be more than
happy to give you a tour.

Tim
