I have a design file I want to put on my website but I don't want to pay a lot for a converter for this one time use. Does anyone know of a free tool or service?

I have used lx-viewer in the past.

It's a windows program, but here are rumors of somebody having compiled
it for linux.

Can you take a screen shot of it in your CAD software?  Or are you lacking the ability to open the DXF to begin with? Or do you need more pixels than that?

I believe Google Sketchup(free version)  can be used to import dxf,

and then print to PDF.

Have you looked at Autodesk TrueView and AutoCAD WS? They are free applications made for sharing DWG and DXF files for design reviews. I believe TrueView will convert to bitmaps.
