Kernel compilation

Hi friends,
I am using ubuntu machine. I try to do kernel compilation. But
am not able to compile. That showing some package is not there.
Please help me to do kernel compilation. Tell me the procedure and
file required for kernel compilation.

Hi Kanal,
I suggest you to always post what error you are getting with little
more
description in the mails .this would make email chain smaller and
faster solving of issue.

   I don't know the step. so i followed

after entering "sudo apt-get build-dep linux" command am getting following message..

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree      
Reading state information... Done
E: You must put some 'source' URIs in your sources.list

Where i get the correct steps to compile the kernel.
