Hawai`i vs. Pacific -- Quotes/Stats

Some quotes from the the Sunday Honolulu Advertiser article "Wahine
Topple Pacific" by Ann Miller:

It was something the Wahine couldn't do last year. Not against
Pacific and not in any other match that really mattered.

But last night, Heath Bown (27 kills, 14 blocks) was, according to
Dunning, "a true terminator."

Setter Nikki Hubbert got all five hitters at least 11 kills, dug 10
balls and blocked five more.

Veronica Lima, Leah Karratti and Jennifer Roberts punished Pacific
consistently. But left-side hitters Hiedi Ilustre and Jessica Sudduth
might have turned the match by fighting through UOP's huge block.

"These people are just tougher mentally than last year," Shoji said.
"Heidi got herself out of a hole, Jess was not good for most of the
match but they just hang in there and hang in there and their game
came around. They are that confident in themselves."

Sophomore transfer Kara Gormsen was more than capable in her second
match subbing for starting setter Tanja Dimitrijevic, who hurt her
knee a week ago. But she couldn't replace Dimitrijevic's experience.

"Tanja has set 40 matches for us and Kara has set two," Dunning said.
"It made a big difference."

Missing from the Hawai`i lineup was Tehani Miyashiro (DS) due to
illness.

Hawai`i now leads the series 33-24 and is 7-1 for the season. UOP
lost its first match against a ranked opponent and is now 8-1 for the
season.

Elsa had good numbers. How does she look coming off her injury, spcefically
did it take away anything from her jump? I missed the match on KHON, I was
pumping money into your local economy, enjoying the primaries and avoiding a
divorce. My wife thinks I watch too much vb. I'll see Stegeman in Stockton
this weekend, just wondering what to expect.
