Some of you may have heard about iWD, our rapid development framework
for iPhone Web Apps. It's now available as an extension to the Free
Open Source version of EWD for GT.M. There's two ways you can get
hold of it:

- if you want the quickest and simplest way to try it out, use the
very latest M/DB installer for Ubuntu Linux. This is now available
for 32 and 64 bit versions, and has been tested on the very latest
10.4 version of Ubuntu.

- If you want to integrate it with an existing GT.M installation,
download the EWD Build 809 kit for GT.M

Both available from our web site at http://www.mgateway.com where
you'll also find more information about iWD.

Further info on iWD:

Anyone interested in seeing an example of an iWD-based iPhone app can
take a look by pointing Safari on their iPhone at http://184.73.89.142/iwd.html

Also some initial parts of a series of YouTube videos:

iWD tutorial at http://gradvs1.mgateway.com/download/iWD_tutorial_800.pdf
iWD Tag Guide at http://gradvs1.mgateway.com/download/iWD_APiGuide_803.pdf

The documentation, tutorials etc are currently written for Cache, but
those familiar with EWD for GT.M should find that the only real
differences are in the ^zewd configuration global settings (which, if
you use the M/DB installer, are already set up for you), and that you
use calls to extrinsic functions instead of class methods in your pre-
page and action/onSubmitted methods. Basically iWD is a set of
additional custom tags for EWD, so if you're already configured for
EWD, you're good to go with iWD too!

GT.M-specific documentation will appear in due course, but I thought a
number of you would like to get your hands on iWD sooner rather than
later.

By the way, if you try out the demo app, try a username of rob and a
password of rob.

If you want to see the source for this app (Cache version):
http://www.mgateway.com/iwdDemo/iWDExample.zip

A copy of this app is included in the M/DB installer - once you've run
the installer, you'll find it in the path /usr/ewdapps/iWDExample and
its scripts will be in /usr/local/gtm/ewd/iWDDemo.m. In fact, after
the M/DB installer has run, the demo will be ready to run and you can
point an iPhone at http://[domain-name]/ewd/iWDDemo/demo.ewd (where
[domain-name] is the domain name of your M/DB appliance) and up it
will come!
