If you try to picture your Intuition, what do you picture?

In "The Happiness Hypothesis," Jon Haidt describes the elephant and the
rider. The elephant is large and moves on its own, and to some extent
the rider can control the movements, but if the elephant has a
different opinion, then the elephant will do its own thing. Haidt
considers the elephant to be the automatic response and intuition, and
he considers the rider to be the rational response and logic.

What other metaphors have you thought of for your intuition?

I know that this can appear to be a hoaky question, but if this rings
true with you, answer away!

I picture intuition as a ball somewhere in my gut.

Is it a shiny ball?

I picture my intuition like a fast zippy animal, zigging and zagging to
the point. But sometimes it gets distracted and zigs away somewhere
else. I think this is because I think my intuition is related to my
associative memory.

My intuition is like sonar. It beeps when things aren't quite right.

Similar to sonar beeping, I have the impression it's electric, and you
get the signal - a shock, a jolt, a good or bad feeling, I'm not sure;
but you try and deciper it.

Hmmm.

Mine is...a cloud-creature, like on Star Trek.  Sometimes, it becomes nearly solid and whacks me on the head, and I pay attention.  Sometimes, I ask it things and it responds with a ghostly, fuzzy voice, not completely there.  And sometimes I can't see it at all.

I find it so neat that all our versions are so very different, and so
very personal. Some have to do with sounds (sonar beeping, whack,
fuzzy voice), others with images (zippy movement, ball in the gut,
cloud-like). This is so interesting!

Other ways that you picture your intuition?

Cloud creature...very interesting!

I am going to try envisioning my intuition as all these different
forms, and see what happens.

I thought I should point out that when my sonar goes off I think of it
as intuition. When something radically great happens, then I call it
inspiration.

I see it as a cloud floating up and into me...and right into my gut.
