There is an idea called "Flow." It means everything that makes you do
something in life as if you are completely caught up in it: "being
completely caught up in an activity for its own sake.... Your whole
being is involved, and you're using your skills to the utmost."

The academic's name is Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (pronounced "cheek sent
me high").
