Dear Fellow Handbell Musicians,
All this chatter about Quartets and Sextets has rekindled an idea that I've had in the back of my head for a while.

I've kicked around starting a companion email list for small ensemble handbell musicians. I know at times I've had questions that I haven't asked here because I didn't feel they were worthy of dropping in everyone's email box.

I'm more than happy to take care of all the list owner duties…

If you're simply interested in the list, please keep the noise down here and email me at bell...@inmff.net -- If you've got comments about this idea, by all means please use the reply like I know you know how to use.. :-D

Warmly,

Nick,

I don't think it creates that much extra traffic, and I would rather keep
the discussions here than have to keep up with another list. Many of us
(I think) work cross the spectrum of group sizes... and we're likely to
have ensemble topics come up in this group anyway!

Thanks,
Mark

I'm with you, Mark.  Would rather not have to keep up with another group.

I agree - there is a lot of small ensemble chatter right now, but it will die down and be replaced with a new topic du jour soon.

I like keeping up with the one list.

Dear Fellow Handbell Musicians,
I sat on this for a while, because well I procrastinate, I wanted to ensure I still wanted this list. ;-)

For the record there were eight folks who identified themselves as for the list, and five against.

Here is the information to subscribe and mail the Handbell L Ensemble list.

I didn't speak out against the formation of a specialized ensemble list,
and I'm still not against it. But I have mixed feelings; I think
Handbell-L is about ALL kinds of handbells, and like many others, am not
only involved with handbells of all kinds, but believe that so many
principles apply across the different platforms. I'm not sure I want to
join another list, but I don't want to miss anything... :-)

I would also hope that if someone wanted to discuss ensemble-style ringing
on the "regular" L, that they wouldn't be reprimanded and told to take it
to the other list.

See how it plays out, Nick, and please let us know how it goes.

I didn't say anything about the formation of this specialized list either, but I agree with Stephanie.  I don't think I want to subscribe to yet another list, but since I ring in a community choir, an ensemble and solo ring, I would want to be able to read about all those things in one place.  I ditto Stephanie's comments, let us know how it goes!
