The storm started a little later than expected. It began around 4 AM as a
light snow, falling at a moderate rate. It will be changing to sleet and
freezing rain as the morning goes on. This is going to make a for a slow
commute today. I have our crew coming in to begin treating the roads.
Because the forecast is calling for around 1 inch of snow, than a change to
freezing rain I will be leaving the snow on the roads for a while. This will
prevent the freezing rain from making the roads seem like a skating rink. At
this point I have talked to the bus company but have not heard of their
decision. I will plan on concentrating our efforts on the main roads and bus
routes when we get going.
The rain showers could stay with us all day and into this evening. As cold
as it has been this will cause any rain that does fall to become ice.
Although the showers will be off and on, anyone driving today should be
aware of changing conditions and icing on the roadways.
Looking ahead it looks like winter is here, more light snow on Thursday
night and Friday night, into the weekend.
Have a good day
