Hi folks,

I want to ask a favor. If you don't know me, I'm the lead developer of Haml and Sass, and have been for most of their existence. It's been a great joy to me to see them grow up, to see people using them and to see them making people happy. Chris Eppstein and I have great plans for the future, too, that I think everyone will be excited about.

To the point: my mom's birthday is coming up in January. She's a freelance technical editor, and over the past year or so she's been toying with the idea of putting up a website for herself. Unfortunately, I don't really have the design chops to help her out adequately. So I'm coming to you folks. I know there are plenty of excellent designers reading these lists, designers who get a lot of pleasure out of using Haml and/or Sass. So I'm asking you: would you be willing, as a gesture of thanks, to take on a pro bono project and design a site for my mom?

Thanks in advance, folks.

I wish I had the chops mate... I'd do it in a second, but my skills unfortunately leave even my eyes bleeding :'(

Have you had a look at http://themeforest.net/ ? They have some pretty nice templates that are pretty cheap...  May be a fallback for you.

Cheers
Daniel

A status update:

I've had a few offers, which I'm very thankful for. I'm going to keep this open until, say, the 25th... after that, I'll try to decide who to go with.

To clarify what exactly is being asked: the idea is that I present her on her birthday (or maybe Christmas) with the gift of "working with such and such designer on a website." Then when she and the designer have time (presumably after the holidays have died down), they discuss the website and things proceed from there.

Thanks for the suggestions for premade templates, but I think the personal aspect of having this actually be a face-to-face human-contact sort of gift would make it more special.

Thanks also for all the offers!

All right, it's about time to draw this to a close. Thanks to everyone for the responses! I'll be following up off-list.
