Hi y'all! I missed the last Boston 'pinup and unless I just missed the
memo on something I think it's about time for another one. Anyone in?
February 3rd?

I vote yes! And could do 2/3. But maybe a Doodle poll? I just put in
like three weeks, to see what people say... http://www.doodle.com/4snpeyseubqi36ws

Doodle says the most people could make it the weekend of the 17th and
18th. So let's do it then?

I support the 17th/18th! It doesn't really matter which one.

Also, this is totally weird, but I help run a sci-fi film festival and
it wraps up that weekend at the Somerville Theater, so if we can make
this a Cambridge-based event, that would greatly raise my chances of
being able to attend between screenings.

The Burren? Sligo? Joshua Tree?

I wouldn't be opposed to that side of the river, I would suggest
somewhere at Harvard Square or below, as the Red Line is closed
between there and Alewife on the weekends and it's a pain in the neck
out there.

Yeah, the Red Line is a huge hassle on the weekends now. Someone's got
to know a good Harvard Square spot for a group?

Also, email boston.hairpin at gmail and I'll send out a reminder
beforehand!

Yelp has good things to say about the Cambridge Queen's Head Pub. (Can't really vouch for it myself, I usually end up at the Hong Kong or Charlie's Kitchen when I'm there)

The Queen's Head is a good space, and the beer is good. It's on the
Harvard campus, though, so they card even if you look like a
grandparent, and you have to wear a wristband. I haven't been in a few
years, but I thought you could only get in with a Harvard staff or
student ID? They definitely could have changed that, though.

If we wanted to do Central Square instead of Harvard, there's The
Field, The Cellar, or the Phoenix Landing. Of those, The Cellar is my
favorite, but it's pretty small.

Anyway, I'm in regardless of where we end up!

I'm in for the 17th, or the 18th I suppose... I live in Harvard Square
now and had a suggestion on a place - Shay's Pub, which is on JFK.
They have pretty good food, a good beer & wine selection and the place
is cute. I do believe Queen's Head is now open to the public (I've
been 2-3 times this year and am definitely not a student) but it's
very... college-y. They allow students of all ages to go there, so if
you don't mind being surrounded by 18 year olds, it's great. Nothing
wrong with 18 year olds, but it can be a tad shocking to the system :)

Central has a lot of great places too - The Asgard, Miracle of
Science, the Cellar, People's Republik....

Okay y'all, I'm going to try super super hard to make it. But also! I will be at the Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival at the Somerville Theater in Davis Square and bopping around that area tonight, tomorrow night, and for the film marathon from noon-Sunday to noon-Monday, so if you feel like stopping by, please do (and email me ahead, I might (might! small chance!) be able to sneak a few people in for cheaper than normal movie ticket price.) I know a few people sent me email saying Friday was better for them too, and I'll be at both screenings tonight and probably hitting the bars near there afterwards. Yee-haw!

Yes! Let's make a Pinup! I just made a Doodle poll for the next couple

and figure the time is generally after work-ish. http://www.doodle.com/hndgzck8gencx844

ALSO! Anyone interested in going to the live This American Life movie
theater thing on May 10? http://www.thisamericanlife.org/cinema

I will be there, probably shortly after 6, and can help save tables,
but have never been particularly good at fighting off bros, or for
that matter, talking to strangers. So if anyone sees an uncomfortable
looking 30 something wandering around pleading with her eyes for
someone to speak to her it's probably me. Here's to trying new things!
I'm looking forward to it.

I don't think I'll be the first person there, but if it helps, I'm wearing a zebra-print dress with a red cardigan over it. Visible!!

Meeting strangers on the internet is the easiest thing in the world!

I should be there between 6 and 6:30, depending on whether I decide to run home and change. You'll recognize me for being the other boy, the non-Josh one.

Iiiii probably have to work late thanks to being out yesterday, but I
should make it there by 6ish! I am the fat girl with the short bob,
the green coat, and the silver tentacle necklace.

I tend to make awkward and lingering eye contact with anyone suspected of being a 'Pinner.  A come-hither shoulder shimmy included.  New people, have no fear!  We will find each other and laugh with our salads.  (And by salads, I mean booze.)

So excited to meet People From the Internet! I'll be the short one spilling a drink on my new off-white linen blazer!

I took the day off for an interview that didn't go fantastic, so I think it's the perfect reason to drink with Internet strangers! I would like to wear my nevernude cutoffs, but it's too cold for that shit.

I definitely wore my most boring outfit of all time today, so if you see an average-type brunette in beige plaid pants, a black sweater, and a lobster hat from one of the tourist stands, that's me.

Dudes, I am really excited about this. This is going to be the longest work day ever.

I think I will be there closer to 7 due to Working for the Man. I hope

I'll be the one not going because the dude who asked me out to dinner
last week didn't confirm for tonight until yesterday and it's my
favorite restaurant so I can't tell him to shove it.

Feel free to drink extra to make up for my absence!

Hey y'all. I'll be there early to act as a warm friendly face/crowds
of people intimidate me. I'll be in beaten jack purcells, slim fit
jeans, a band t-shirt and headphones around my neck like the cliche
that i am (also red hair).

Well, if I make it (childcare is up in the air again, boo) I'll be
wearing a blue & white stripey top and Wonder Woman Converse low tops.
I hope to meet you all tonight!

OK, I think I just emailed everyone, but just in case: I set up a
whole Boston google group for us. Anyone should be able to ask to
join, if you didn't get the email. It should be here:
