I'm too excited to wait for the Friday Open Thread! I just got my dram
job in Portland and can finally move up to be with my boyfriend (who's
been there since January). I won't be there in time for the Pinup on
the 16th, but was wondering if anyone knew of any open apartments
(cottages/bungalows/plexes) in the NE or SE? We're looking for a 1 or
2 BR with a yard and W/D for around $1200. I have a 60 lb. dog, who's
making it really hard to find a place! I don't comment much, so I
don't really know any of you, but I am just SO excited! Please let me
know if you hear of anything. Thanks!!

Hi Rachel! I don't really know of any apartments that are open at the
moment but you might have luck in either the Montavilla neighborhood
or the Woodstock/SE Steele neighborhood. Welcome to Portland!!

Welcome, Rachel! I suggest calling my rental community, the Falcon Art Community. A portion of the rents go to subsidize artists and these places are in inner North Portland (in an awesome area - last night, for example, the Shins filmed their new video directly outside my apartment). Tell 'em Judy Parker sent you!

And please do check in with folks on the list before you sign a lease to make sure the neighborhood is cool/safe/worth it.

Hurrah, you'll love Portland so hard!

Welcome, Rachel! You should join the facebook group; I think there's more people on there than on the google group and they might have some more leads:

I don't have any leads for you, Rachel, but just wanted to commiserate on the difficulty of finding an apartment. We moved across country with your exact same apartment requirements (except our pup is 85lbs) and finding something sucked hardcore. But I love my apartment and the area is perfect for someone with a dog (North Portland, around the area of the Cascade Campus of PCC...which, incidentially, I think is the neighborhod That Girl is describing). So, good luck!
