Finding this totally made my day! I work on the Mall, so I'm very OK with that. Maybe a Fridays After Five meetup late in July? Free wine tasting at Market Street?

Oh man! I posted that reply back in April and then promptly forgot all about this group. I might be able to make a Friday or Saturday - I'll check back once you all have settled on a date and then see if it fits with my plans!

Awesome!  Things just ook a big change this weekend, and it looks like I will be moving over the mountain sooner rather than later.  Still figuring out the details, so I may not be available for a little while yet, but once it gets sorted out, I should be more available than ever for getting together in C'ville.

Sarah, I am in Harrisonburg, but got a new gig in C'ville.  So, I'm moving to Charlottesville sometime in the first week of August!!  I might be swamped with the new job, but I will need more than the three friends I already have there, so a meet-up would be extra great.

Like maybe mid or late August?

Welcome to C'ville (soon)! I can't help but wonder if I've met some of you awesome people already at some point and didn't even know it.

Anyway, I propose we get this thing going with a meetup Friday, July 27 at 6 p.m. at Commonwealth. I always get a case of the I'm-not-fancy-enoughs there, but they mix some fine drinks. And the round booths are awesome. Also, cheese plate. Yeah. 

Then maybe we can gather again once you're settled in, Foureyedgirl. Incidentally, are you looking for a place? I have no idea if it would suit you, but I'm leaving a sweet little second-floor one-bedroom on St. Clair Avenue at the end of this month (buying a house—egad). It has its shortcomings (no AC, and only one spot for a window unit, so you can imagine what the last few weeks have been like), but it's served me very well. Big backyard, deck, ridiculous amounts of closet space, friendly neighbors.

So I live in Richmond, but I'm coming to Charlottesville Thursday for the Wilco show and I have an extra ticket & I think an extra pass into the sound check party--would anyone be interested in hanging out with me for a few hours?

Sorry for the delayed reply, this moving/new job thing is messing with my internet time.  I am actually shacking up with my boyfriend in the wilds of Earlysville.  But we have hopes to move into town in the next year once we sell at least one of our houses, but sadly probably not soon enough to check out the apartment.  (It's possible I am an old fart, considering the two house owning living in the suburbs thing I just copped to.)

Anyway, my last day of work in Harrisonburg is the 27th and I start in Charlottesville (also on the mall) on August 7.  After that I will be far more available for meet ups and new friend making.  Have a great time!

Hi Charlottesville 'pinners! I recognize no one has posted in this group for a couple of months but I am going to try my luck that one of you might check back. My husband and I are moving to Charlottesville in a couple of weeks from southern California. We have literally never set foot in Charlottesville and I don't even have a job lined up (he has a postdoc at UVA but no one liked my PhD so I have to try something new) and I'm nervous about the move. I hear Charlottesville is actually a super cool town and I'm from the east coast anyways and my parents just went crazy and bought a horse farm (literally) a few hours away so this is a good move for us, but yeah. feelings.

Anyways, what I propose is a new meetup in a month or so- show a new girl around town a little bit?
