I trust you ladies more than anyone else when it comes to
recommendations for the best places. My sister is getting married and
the bachelorette party is planned for July 21 (Saturday) and... that's
all I've planned. I'm coming from Orange County but everyone else
lives in the bay area.

There's going to be about 8-10 ladies total and I'd like to plan an
evening that goes like this: check into hotel, get ready with
everyone, go out to eat at a place that has delicious food but is not
fancy or too expensive, maybe a drag show or burlesque or something
entertaining, dive bar or karaoke and lots of drinks. Back to hotel.

I am on a budget in that I can't afford to spend $500, but I have
never been to a bachelorette party or a wedding or anything so I have
no idea how much all of this will reasonably cost. Please help me by
recommending the best places, preferably in an area where we can walk
or short cab ride from a hip but not expensive hotel!!

I've spent a lot of time in the city but not enough to really know the
cool places. I have no idea what most of my sister's friends are like
(they're in the late twenties-mid thirties range, all have decent
jobs, some are married with kids), but I like dive bars with good
jukeboxes, britpop dance nights, old soul... basically not a
"nightclub" vibe if that helps.

If it were my bachelorette party I'd rent scooters and pretend I was
in a mod gang for a day, but that's not really what these people are
into. My sister and several of them are accountants. They like to
drink. This should be easy, right? Any suggestions would be very much
appreciated! Especially if you have been to or organized a
bachelorette party in SF!
