Hi,

We're still looking for a (Senior) Engineer to join our team at
GamesMadeMe.

GamesMadeMe is founded by a small but experienced team (ex-Nokia,
Blyk, Ditto, etc). We are truly passionate about what we do and very
results oriented. This means we do expect a lot from each of our
employees but also give the required tools and environment in return.

We believe that ideas are plenty but good software developers are
scarce. This attitude is also reflected in our compensation.

If you're interested, email me at ju...@gamesmademe.com. More details
below.

------------

Job Description
We create fun cross-browser HTML5 social games that can be played by
anyone, anytime and on any device equipped with a modern web browser,
be it PC, Mac, tablet or a smartphone.

We are a small, passionate team headquartered in Finland and operating
out from both Finland and Singapore. We are backed by A-list European
seed financier Lifelife Ventures.

We are looking for a kick-ass Software Engineer to join our team in
Singapore.

Job Responsibilities
This position is about research and development and solving the
problems found and generated in the progress.

We try our best to be language agnostic, but because of the Web
environment Javascript skills or willingness to learn is required. It
does not hurt if you know your way around CSS3/HTML jungle and have
battle scars from mobile development.

You will be a part of our game development team working on building
browser based original IP games.

Expected Qualifications
- Hands on programmer
- Right tool for the right job attitude
- Intimately familiar with Web programming techniques
- 5 years of experience in scalable and maintainable development
- Experience with Mobile software is a big plus
- Fluency in English
- Understanding that Done is Better than Perfect
- Ability to work in fast-paced start-up environment: "GSD"

6k

guys, what do u think about
1, remote work
2, work from home but have meetings 2-3 times a week for half a day
3, pair programming

since devs are such a scarce did u consider hiring 2 less experienced guys for 3k each and let them pair with your senior guys and with each other?

Hi,

Thanks for the comments.

I don't want to screw up salary negotiations with a potential
candidate... But for me the range can go higher if the candidate has
the right experience and track record (normally this means that you've
worked in the right companies and in the right area -- arguably hard
to find in Singapore). If I compare Singapore salary range to my home
country of Finland I think it's still fairly low also including the
overhead employer needs to pay. To be honest I don't understand some
local startups complaining of the high costs of development here :)

Tamas,
1-2, Working mostly from home could work but that would require the
candidate to be really good and being able to demonstrate he can
deliver. Most probably I wouldn't hire full time immediately on this
basis but we could start with a shorter term project. We're fairly
familiar with working remotely: at the moment wer'e in 4 locations and
3 timezones but actively trying to bring the whole team under one
roof.
3. We don't do pair programming as of now. I'll leave decision on that
for my CTO to make.

I would consider hiring less experienced people, too, as far as they
are very smart, have the right attitude and have a bit of experience
in "real development" (maintaineable -- is that a word -- code). To
be specific I wouldn't hire 2 less experienced at once since it takes
some time to bring people on board. If you're interested yourself, do
send me an email.

If there are others who are interested, just get in touch with me.
Please include links to the stuff that you've built before.

Cheers
Juha
