Some of you already saw http://www.flocations.com/ that my team
released a few days ago.
I'm interested in getting more feedback to improve it and make it the
best website for leisure travel planning!

So, if you like to travel, if you're fed up with current flight search
engines (or if you like some of them), if you like to use great
interfaces, or even if you just like to give say what you think,
contact me please!

Very nice :)

One suggestion is that clicking on the starting point pin would give the same kind of window on the right with a list view of the results. Maybe have another quick link/icon on the top bar to display this list view.
There are some more simple UI comments if you are want.

i think it would look nicer when the lines go to the center of the
circular markers, maybe without the small arrow underneath. or place
the circles centered on the locations.
now if you could take payments and people would never have to touch
Air Asia website again you will have a killer business :)

I'm liking this a lot quite frankly :-)

I see that you have

a. return flights - already covered on your blog

not sure if it's possible but maybe:

b. get an estimate showing the taxes expected so the user has a better
idea of what they're paying in all (taxes vary by airline, location..
not sure? - trackable variables) - great especially for first time
fliers/users to make it viral.

c. more destinations (like europe/north america) - will totally use
this for our clients.

just an idea:
why do i have to click on the destinations to see the prices?
why not use data visualization techniques to show the prices on the
map view? line thickness, color, symbol, price written on the lines.

Would be great to have a date dropdown in the "flight details" popup for
a view of connecting flights out to other places (or return trip).

I don't like that I have to pick my destination from a huge overwhelming list of choices. A textbox where I can just enter my destination with auto-completion would be better.

And in general I would never buy a ticket by just going to a site and picking a flight. I would always want to monitor several airlines for my desired itinerary for a couple of days / weeks and pick whenever I see a significant price drop. But maybe this site is aimed to spontaneous travelers so I might not quite be the target group.

Good job on the UI. Looks very cool.

Cheers,
Martin

you could incorporate a small historic average price graph for a
specific route/airline plotted over a week. with some exceptions like
public holidays i think thats valuable data to plan a trip if you are
not tied to a certain date.

It would be nice if it excluded flights already completed at the time
I search, in my time zone. If I key in today as a departure (at
6.30pm) I see today's 11am flights.

Thanks all for your feedbacks!

@gideon: the sidebar for origin airport is now live.
@osama: thanks for your twitter mention too... pm me!
@Martin: yes, the listing of airports sucked. it a bit better now.

Others: many ideas are in the pipe... don't be shy to pm me for
further conversations... I want flocations to be as useful as
possible!!

Florian -

Hi. FWIW, I actually benefited from flocations last Friday. I needed
to get a flight back from KL and I found out an airline that I did not even
think flew KL-SG - JetStar. I did get a ticket on that and made the
trip. So, here's a success story you can brag about.

Also related :)

Maybe your site can give suggestions when is better to buy.

Its nice to see how the product is shaping up and improving quickly!

Luther mentioned a lifehacker article about Google Flights.

i haven't seen the link to it, but from andras via a hungarian article
(which talks about anti-trust suite related to google buying an air
fare scraper company)
i got to see this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC2bUYVkjrY&feature=player_embedded

and u can try it for yourself: http://google.com/flights
(US only, iirc, but bruuuutttally smart...)

This is the tool I wanted to have for years. It's a shame that it will probably stay US only for years :(
