Hi all,

anyone here been to Seattle, WA, USA before? Any recommendations for
cheap and good accommodation? I will be there for 5 days, hopefully
I'll be able to meetup the amazing people from Seattle.rb (cc'd SRB).

It's a great time of the year to visit; will you be driving, biking, or
taking the bus around town?

Use the airbnb and find something suitable. It is suitable for 5 day stays etc.

Hi Ray Chuan,

I was in Seattle two months ago for a SageMath coding sprint. The coding sprint was held at the University of Washington, so naturally I got a place near the campus. It's called the Collegiana (http://www.uwmedicine.org/Patient-Care/Patient-Family-Resources/Collegiana/Pages/default.aspx). It's kinda like something between a day inn and a hostel. Pretty comfortable. It takes roughly about a 15 mins drive to get to downtown Seattle. The rates are on the website. :)

Cheers,
Jason

Hi Jason,

cool to hear that you work on Sage! While doing my calculus and linear
algebra, it was one of the open-source math packages that I "reviewed"
but I eventually settled on Maxima (for symbolic) and Octave (for lin
alg). Symbolic manipulation is always useful now and then - eg to help
figure out what went wrong with a 'A' level differentiation question.
Hah. I should give Sage a spin some time, perhaps while I'm in
transit...

I'm settling for Airbnb, as Senthil recommended (thanks). Rates are great.

Hmm most probably bus and biking. I'm looking through [1], biking
looks interesting, since it's something different from sg. I also want
to give the Burke-Gilman trail a try, it sounds scenic! Any advice?
