I hope to be able to recruit a volunteer to help ensure that the air-con gets cleaned every quarter.

Duties include:

- Be the point of contact with the aircon company.
- Be the point of contact for any aircon breakdown.
- Making sure that someone is around when any cleaning/repair is happening.
- Follow up with any payments that need to be sent. Basically get the signatories to sign the cheque

This is a pro bono position. More than one vacancy is available if candidates are really passionate about air conditioning. HSG already is already liaising with an company.

Interested individuals please drop a mail to lut...@hackerspace.sg

Whoever takes on this job should organise for an annual contract (paid
up front) with quarterly visits for cleaning. Bulk purchases are
cheaper, contractor company will call you to schedule so you do not
need to remember and an annual contract company will not charge you a
'look-see' fee if you ask them to come by and take a look.

We already have an annual contract in place, which has expired. I am now in the midst of renewing the contract. So this is a very easy job.

I also realised that the title 'Aircon manager' is extremely unattractive. I welcome new suggestions, such as 'Aircon ninja', etc

Excellent!

Why don't you put together the full list? Maybe people who are around
often could be space fixer extraordinaire :)

My time is a bit tight to come up with the full list. But i will try.

In the meantime we need someone to roll up sleeves and replace the
faulty ceiling lights. Any volunteers? A step ladder is needed, but we
should be abel to borrow that from our neighbour downstairs.

We need an internal HSG job board for tasks that need doing =) Members should be able to come by and just pick them off to do

I volunteer a free license for our Agile project management tool, Eidos, which is about to go into private beta. :-) We have a kanban board as well as SCRUM. I think kanban would be best for these kinds of things. http://proteus-agility.com

I would like to suggest we get the noisy one replaced totally.

My company uses Trello - pretty awesome SCRUM management tool as well, and free! :)

Please please please hang a white board somewhere and write this stuff
down. If someone is IN the space, it will be staring them in the face
and hopefully it will get done quicker. Minimal time, cost and effort
+ find your core audience -> validate right??

I will buy an A0 size whiteboard and have it delivered and pay for it
if someone will receive it and hang it.

Anyone?

Don't we already have a standup A0 whiteboard? Can we just use that but
put it in a more prominent place?

It moves and gets used for various things. A dedicated board for one
use only in one place _stuck to wall_ means no issues with accidental
erasure, loss of information, etc.

We do have an A1 board that can be wall mounted somewhere. I think it is at the back of the zone. Can someone please verify? We do have a drill and hammer as well.

I was planning to drop by the space after 3.30pm today. As I'm new, why don't I pick up a board and mount it this afternoon?

Some (dumb) questions - my apologies for the ignorance - so I can come prepared:

* Are the walls gyprock/drywall or another material?
* My toolkit is still in a shipping container in storage somewhere - is there a studfinder, measuring tape and wall-screws for use in the space, or are these required also?
* Is there a suitable drill (hammer?) in the space for use to wall-mount the board?

Thanks for the offer Tom. Delivery would be Friday from 10am to 4pm
though. Will you be around?.

I am using a supplier I use often so that costs are lower. Someone
needs to sign for the delivery.

I suspect with the light weight you could just use nails and hammer on
one of the foundation concrete walls instead of the (I believe) red
brick non-foundation walls.

Attached is a picture of the white board that I mentioned. It's been collecting dust at hsg since day 1... left over from the previous tenant. Feels light enough to be wall mounted. Now we need a space to mount it.

Does it have the flat hooks on the top for mounting?

See attachment. Are those the hooks you are referring to?

Good stuff Ben. Been wanting to try since you shared at the last Python Study Group.

But I reckon that at the very least, the arrears team, consisting of Roland, James and myself, could benefit from this. The membership team could also benefit from this too. Please let me know how we can get started.

Status of the aircons: we got it serviced.

The next servicing will be in 3 months time. This position of aircon
manager is still up for grabs!

PS. We discovered a funky smell similar to gas today that may be from
the aircon near the window in the main area. But we are unable to
replicate the issue after switching off the iarcon and turning it back
on. Please feedback if you have similar observations.

Yep just sign up for the beta at http://proteus-agility.com and then let me know you did so I can make sure you get priority.

Yes, assuming it is attached properly, Tom will not need to buy
mounting hooks. Fingers crossed.
