The information they give on their site is a bit vague!  "Battizer Alkaline
Battery Charger uses a heatless technology" :)
I would suggest reading the fine print letters of usage before buying this.

re-charging alkaline batteries is not something new, its just risky because
they can leak and god knows how many crappy batteries are out there..
