As promised, I have placed $300 in the tip jar as contribution from the class fees for the Intro to Web Development with PHP class.

I think Michael has been contributing a lot of the takings from his class to the tip jar. Since he is already supporting the space as a member. I feel inclined to suggest that for paid events like workshops, if the instructor is a member, then there is no need to contribute any shared revenue.

Alternatively, the revenue can be contributed to hsg, but as part of membership fees.

Thoughts?

Thanks for the thought Luther. I think I am happy to keep paying my membership dues along with contributing a portion of my takings from workshops.

Furthermore, paying in "community service" hours to offset membership fees feels kinda wrong.

There has never been a need, it is done in appreciation for use of the space and to keep it running, same as with all members of the community who also pay for membership to the physical space.

Given that one of the solutions for raising revenue is to have paid workshops, and that it is not possible to have a workshop at the space without a member as a host, it seems contradictory to make such a suggestion.

Lets be thankful and provide as much support as possible to keep it going, and do all we can to encourage others to do what they can to help with the finances.
