The one thing I had trouble with was a USB cable to power the Pi. The cheap ones I already had used wires that were too thin so they couldn't deliver enough current, causing a voltage drop. Once I plugged a USB keyboard in, the voltage dropped enough that the whole USB bus would reset every few seconds, making the network drop out too (since it's a USB to Ethernet chip.)
I tried a few different cables but in the end the only way I have been able to power it reliably was by using a bench PSU and putting 5V in through the power pins on the GPIO connector (a supported method.) This gets me 5V exactly coming out of the Pi's USB ports, which is much better than the barely above 4V that I was getting previously.

tj, you also need a *micro* usb cable for power - or as Adam says below,
drive it directly (carefully).
the USB ports each have 140mA fuses - they turn off if you exceed it. So if
you want to run any useful USB devices, get a decent powered hub (2A). You
can also run the Pi from one of the hub's ports, while running the hub from
the Pi... *mind blown*

Also you can directly plug a standard servo connector onto the GPIO
header (starting from the pin at the very corner of the board going
towards the usb ports it's 5v, 5v, GND), so powering from a BEC is
trivial.
