Just in case anyone's thinking of looking at this at work, I'm pretty sure
it's not work safe.

I know at any job I've been at in recent history, watching videos of girls
who are wearing nothing more than alfoil stars and panties would surely get
me a meeting with HR.

Wicked!

How tough are these cameras anyway? I considered doing something like this
with my circus gear but am too worried of it either falling 8m to the
ground, falling 8m onto me, or being driven into the ground by a large
spinning stick because i didn't catch a throw.

Cheers,
-Joel

they are fairly robust, and you can purchase a new case for it if you
really bust it up..
I have been thinking of purchasing one from this crew.

Anyone know of a better deal?

We put them on teh underside of rally cars and inside the rim 100MM at most
from the brake discs, they get 600 degrees celsuis +.

I am yet to see a broken go pro.

I have an original go-pro, that has been beaten to kingdom come, and still
works flawlessly.*     It has been duct-taped to my skydiving helmet,
attached to my gyro-copter, fallen out of the sky with my quad-copter/s
from extraordinary heights ( planty of times), been in a FPV aeroplane that
I lost control of and crashed over a klm away ( over a field and a river
and in a tree),  it has also been duct-taped to (approx) 12 other model
airplanes or flying things, and it lives on.

Oh, and most of this *without* the "protective casing" that came with it.
( it weights too much for model planes )

The gopro also has a live PAL(or NTSC) video-out connection, while
simultaneously recording high-def to SD card, so it's perfect for things (
like FPV) where you also want to live-stream, but want high-def for later
editing.

* It now has the residue of duct-tape all over it, and a slight scratch on
the lens ( 50km/h+ model aircraft crash that ejected the camera onto the
dirt and it scratched it ) ... but it's hardly noticable as anything other
than a little blur in one spot, still takes great vids.   :-)

If you want to do circus stuff, it *should* be fine.  If you are worried,
just put a little closed-cell foam around it where it matters.  ie buy a
$2-5 blue foam "exercise mat" ( about 1cm thick) , sometimes called a
"camping mat"... or if you are game, find a "friend" that has one, and snip
a few centimenters off one end.    super-glue works wonders on the foam I
have, sticks stronger than the foam itself.    hold the foam and camera
together with rubberbands. ;-)

Buzz.
