Digital Optical audio cable.

* 24K Gold plated connectors for precise contact and maximum conductivity
* Other Features: Shielded
* flexible outer jacket eliminates light reflection

Does anyone else see a problem with these stupid and grossly inaccurate
claims?

Buzz.

Yes, because an optical cable needs "maximum" conductivity!

I can't find the original thing, but monster's HDMI cables have long been
guilty of hilariously overpriced cables:

Look at their HDMI cable "family":

http://www.monstercable.com/hdmi/HDMI_Cable_Information.asp

They've also made variants of the gold plated optical audio cables.

When I worked at DSE I'd often talk people out of buying monster cables. If
only this article was written then, I probably would have had a higher
success rate:

my favourite part of the description is the "eliminates light reflection"
part.

We know that without total-internal reflection* an optical cable is
useless, so saying you've "eliminated reflection" is just saying your cable
is non-functional.

Buzz.

They might be talking about coating on the ends of the cables to stop
longitudinal reflections.

I read an audio magazine review of a 100 dollar usb cable which waxed
lyrical about its warm bass and crisp high frequency response.  sadly i am
not joking.

Funny but i suspect an innocent translation error here.

Replace 'virus noise' with 'parasitic noise' and all of a sudden it almost
makes sense....
