Hi
Adam here from MakeHackVoid in Canberra. I thought I'd offer up my
time to advocate on behalf of you guys to the Renew folks who'll be in
Newcastle for This Is Not Art this weekend. Angus and I will be up
there doing an Arduino workshop and some hackerspace themed
presentations. We mention you guys in one of the sections of one of
our presentations, specifically noting the work you've done on the
lantern, we'll be sure to share the message of hackerspaces as wide as
we can.

For comparison, we have 156m2 workshop space in Canberra's inner
north. We've found this to be a good amount of space. We're not using
it all optimally so could probably drop down to about 100m2 at a
pinch. Any less than that and we'd need to really cull a bunch of
things. Of course any group will expand to use the space available so
if you can get more I can see it being useful.
We are very lucky with our rent due to getting it at below storage
rates for a community group through the ACT government. Before we know
what our overall costs were going to be we started charging $90 per
month for Full Memberships (24 hour access) and $60 for Associate
Memberships (access when ever a full member is present) and reduced
that after we had a better idea of what our on going costs were.
