Hi All,

I need Raspberry Pi power supplies for a little project:
http://ogpc.com.au/wiki/ShuttlePi/Hardware

They're commonly sold as "smart-phone chargers", 5V @ 700mA+, micro-B
USB connector.

If you have any spares (and don't need them for your own project to take
over the world, Muahahahaha!) I would love to take them off your hands.

This is completely not what you want, but if anyone wants a 5V power adapter, the Reject Shop has a gadget with a male and female 240V plugs and a USB-A socket for 5V for $6.  I'd hope what they sell isn't too dodgy.

I like the look of these:

2* USB 5V@1A outputs, $18

I'm $114 short of free shipping, anyone else want anything from LittleBird?

Just being cautious... where did you read 2 x 1A output?

USB socket output: 5V at 1A
socket, singular, implying "each".

but then, below it says 5V @ 1A, so you're probably right...

worst case it has 1A for both sockets, meaning raspi on one (700mA) and 300mA left for an LED christmas tree or soemthing.

Just heard back from John Boxall jo...@littlebirdelectronics.com, according to the supplier it is 1A per port. Woot.

I'll get one or two to play with, anyone else want anything from LB?

I've seen them in Bunnings but rated about .5A iirc

RS have some power packs for about $12, but they have European plugs so you'll need some $1 adapters from ebay.

I don't know whether hardware stores or department stores would have 240V plugs with USB ports.

I got one from the reject shop for cheap, not sure if it's the same one, but it has a warranty and serves up 1A, so should be good.

Depends on the hub.
Spec for USB2 is up to 500mA per port if you ask nicely (i.e. a really
good USB hub won't give you 500mA until you ask for it, so a cheaper one
might be better).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus#Power

The RasPi needs at least 700.

'dumb' smart-phone chargers usually supply 1A or more, and without the
pesky protocol required to get it.

I'm worried 'bargain basement' PSUs (and/or mains adapters) as these are
destined for schools (and homes).

I've got 2 of the $18 LittleBird ones on the way.
Apparently they can supply 1A each on both ports, so at a pinch I could
run 2 RasPis each (not happy with the sharing option, I want each
student to be able to take home a working unit).
If they work I'm happy to use them.

Just got them, packaging rather unambiguously states "1A combined".

Hoping against common sense I've asked for confirmation...
