Thanks to everyone who helped out yesterday (and the many days leading up to it) at the Makerfaire.

I think it was a huge success and for me it was the least stressful and taxing event we have run - many hands make light work!

Special thanks to Kylie for helping keep track of who was doing what, Peter for his time, transport and LED booth-bling and Robert for the device tester which got some pretty heavy use :)

Dear Makers
(yes I forgot about day-light savings, so I thought with the one hour up my sleeve I may as well post to you now)

Firstly, what a fantastic event we all made possible yesterday! Thank you!

We are uncertain exactly how many visited the Faire, but numbers were thrown around between two and four thousand. I am happy with possibly two....the rest being cream on the cake if that was the case. (yes, next time a people counter for certain)

Thank you for your patience as I moved you here and there and in spite of best efforts was short a trestle or two. Thankfully AC Arts allowed us flexibility with their furniture to make up any gaps.

As a visual artist/maker I have been in many exhibitions and the like and coordinated logistics for associated Tour Down Under steet parties, but this is was my first largely non-commercial event......and when I think about it, I think that is what has made the difference!

I was delighted to see the light and smiles on people's faces as they engaged in,  learned about and observed all kinds of creativity. I believe this was genuine giving and receiving in action.

As I walked around the venue, I informally chatted with people to see how they were, did they need help, were they having a good time and just being a visitor too (however the red shirt did give me away). Nonetheless, feedback was fantastic in spite of the many stairs. Everybody loved the mix of Makers and want us to do it again.

As a 'tester' I think we passed. So pat yourselves on the back for being part of a super-enthusiastic and skilled making community. I hope some of you were able to make connections amongst yourselves too.

There is still more official information as feedback to gather and so this is probably not quite the last you will hear from me but.....

Many thanks to you all for helping the Adelaide Mini Maker Faire team including volunteers, set a benchmark for others to aspire to.

Have a great day.

Kind regards,
Catherine
