Subject: Exhaust fan for laser cutter
Hi all,

I need to organize an exhaust fan for my laser cutter before I try cutting my first piece. It fills the shed enough with only engraving. I was thinking of an inline fan and duct to the wall or roof. Something like this http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com.au/viewitem?itemId=200837271231&index=...

Anyone know where i might be able to source something like this locally? I would buy one off ebay but I'm hoping to get something rigged up for this weekend.
Anyone know some 'friends' who have surplus hydro gear ;-)

Cheers
Matt.

I'll have a look at work to see if there is anything suitable. Do you just
want to blow it out under the roller door for now? or are you looking to
mount it through a wall/ceiling.

I've got the laser in my small back she'd (~2.5x3m fibroclad walls, tin roof) my preference is to cut a hole in the roof. I could just run it to the door temporarily but I'll get a lot of insects coming in at night.

Had a quick look out the back, only fan we have on hand is a big 3 phase
one which would probably crush the shed like a coke can....

Could also try supagas/BOC as they do a lot of fume extraction stuff for
welding.

or Air Diffusion (off saints road at Salisbury), the have flexible duct,
transfer fans etc... or its been a while since I have been in a cash
converters, but they always seemed to have a 'hydro' section.

Hello Matt,

I have some centrifugal blowers in the back shed. I think the output
port is 80 to 100 mm dia. I think the motor is 12V DC
The Fan box is about 25cm diameter.

I'm pretty sure hydroponics stores would have these things by the
truckload.
