DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•      Design, develop and implement Java based DESE applications

•      Enhance existing application to add new functionality and to
optimize them for performance

•      Provide day to day production systems support including
trouble-shooting and fixing issues as they occur

•      Share knowledge and development techniques among the team

•      Document requirements for enhancement requests

•      Create and monitor development or implementation plan

•      Write technical specifications for all new development

•      Deploy code to production environment

•      Log bugs and communicate about application issues with other
application developers

•      Maintain, modify and enhance existing multi-tiered and distributed
systems

•      Prepare technical documentation on revised applications

•      Collaborate with other developers to ensure consistency with
enterprise architecture and standards

•      Participate in discussions and decisions to shape future enterprise
architecture

•      Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

•      10  years of experience writing J2EE web applications (Java/J2EE,
Servlets, JSP)

•      Experience in spring MVC and Struts application framework

•      Experience in building Web Services

•      Experience with SQL programming, Oracle 10g, JDBC, SQL, PL/SQL

•      Front end development experience including DHTML, Rich Internet
Applications, JavaScript

•      Experience designing and managing web applications, with solid
understanding of object-oriented programming

•      Multi-tiered application design and development

•      Demonstrated analytical skills

•      Ability to analyze problems and recommend practical solutions to
attain desired results

•      Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure
environment

•      Excellent customer service skills.

•      Demonstrated discipline, self-reliance, dependability, and good
judgment.

•      Solid organizational and communications skills

PREFERRED SKILL SET:

•      Experience with Microsoft Behaviors and/or Ajax concepts

•      Experience developing/deploying applications for Weblogic

•      Understanding of education data and/or terminology

•     Familiarity with Cognos BI tools, ReportNet and Cognos BI-8 suite.
