Hi all,
New to habari, and decided to try porting my favorite WP theme. I
really like the OO approach, and your coding/css guidelines are great.
So far things are working even better than I'd hoped. I do have
questions on a couple of getting started topics.

I'm adding support for l10n, but have trouble with the '_e()'
function. It won't output anything unless I explicitly say echo or
print. Is this expected, or is it something I'm missing? Shouldn't
this output the original string when no locale is set? Are there docs
available for how locale works in habari? I'm still looking around a
lot but haven't found this covered, except for a class page about
HabariLocale api.

Also, is there any preview info about new stuff in 0.7? There are a
lot of bits and pieces that I'd like to include, but it would be nice
not to reinvent something if it's about to show up anyway :)
Thanks so much,

Yes it was, and got it now. Still new to a lot of this...

Hi,

I too am new to Habari. I started with it about 2 months ago. At first
I installed the 0.6 version on the grounds that it was the "stable,
release" version. But after a while I switched to the latest 0.7 alpha
(I didn't have any luck upgrading, I did a clean install of 0.7)
together with the Trunk plugins. I have actually found it as stable
as, if not more stable than, 0.6. Curiously, I have found that google
searches have thrown up useful pages on the wiki that I hadn't found
by navigating around (pages that I think have been written in
preparation for the official release of 0.7). Just my experience, FWIW.

Hey, Philip, that works great. Thank you. I see the Taxonomy system
includes a (not yet working) plugin for Categories. Excellent--that's
exactly what I was hoping to not reinvent.

Also, I spoke too soon about locale working. Need to mess with it some
more. In the mean time, I added the PHP-gettext libs to my theme dir
and that's working great--so at least I can move forward.

Took me a while to figure out that the 2nd arg to the
HabariLocale::_t() method is overloaded and will accept a simple
string for the domain. Not obvious from the class ref page, and didn't
get it until I looked at the class file.
Cheers,

Actually, simplecategories is fairly functional. About all it doesn't
do is work right with nested URLs, IIRC. You're certainly welcome to
try it out and let us know.
