As Matt Read said, seeing the characters would be useful. Habari uses utf-8 internally, and the content type header it sends with the page sets the charset to utf-8.

For what it's worth, the plugin appears to include a huge list of equivalent characters, which is the "normalization" approach mentioned in #478, though in an entirely different context.

I have no idea why any of that is required to simply display a post. There shouldn't be anything in the process of saving or retrieving a post that modifies the content.

Good to know. Even it had been helpful, I deleted reference primarily because I neglected promise to avoid such links. Wine is a great motivator but very poor inhibitor.
