Import XML

As some of you know from my #habari postings this weekend I have been
trying to import from a wordpress.com site. I have the .xml file
exported but have not been able to import it yet.
Chrismeller suggested converting it ( which I will try Monday) but
shouldn't there be an easy import plugin? If there is I have yet to
find it.

Any suggestions appreciated as I really don't want to import by
copying posts over.

I am only aware that Habari can import BlogML. Wordpress uses WXR.

Habari has a WordPress import plugin, but it imports direct from the database.

So one thing you could do is setup a temp WordPress site, import your XML and then use Habari to import directly from the WP database. Once imported you can delete the WP DB.
