Currently we use /atom/1 for the atom feed, yet this is totally
illogical, as it is used for the entry list for the APP, which
requires that entries be sorted by atom:updated. If I subscribe to
the feed of a blog I expect to get entries in my aggregator as they
are published, not the most recently updated posts. This has got to
the state that on my blog I see nothing but posts from 2005 in my
feed, which is totally useless for any reader.

I know of no other blogging platform that intermixes the two formats
like Habari does, causing such bugs. There should be different pages
for each.

I agree. It should be by publish date, not last updated. I also agree with the necessity to separate APP and Atom syndication. I'm not too privy with the whole Atom scene, but as far as I know they've got pretty different purposes.

I'm currently writing a long post about what changes I think need to
be made to AtomPub to be complete and warning free on the Ape. I
should be finished today, and we can use that as a starting point.

As an aside, AtomPub requires entries be sorted in app:edited order,
not atom:updated. At the moment, it's the same thing but ... well,
I'll post about it soon.

cheers, Michael
