Hello

This is the second time I install Habari. The first time, some months
of maybe years ago, I was not that convinced. Now I am much more.

I already wrote some (lautative) reviews of it where I call Habari the
"Mac OS X of blogs" (especially with the gorgeous Charcoal Theme)

- http://david.latapie.name/blog/4320-habari (English, one post)
- http://david.latapie.name/habari/admin/ (French, blog)

Here are some feature requests. For ease of reference, I will number
them:
1. *Edit in place* (users with authorization only, of course). Very
Habari'sh to me http://15daysofjquery.com/examples/jqueryEditInPlace/divEdit.php

2. *Child theming*. I HATE display:block for <code> (plus, typography
advices p:first-line=text-indent XOR p=margin-top for paragraph and
finally, I prefer serif with line-height:1.4em over sans-serif), but I
don't wan't to break compatibility with future versions of Charcoal. I
understood 0.7 would add a lot of new theming options, which is great.

3. French language pack looking at Laucnhpad (<https://
translations.launchpad.net/habari/trunk/+pots/habari/fr/+details>),
Habari is supposed to be completely translated, but I can't see any
language pack for Frecnh

4. Options for pages. Pages in tabs is great, but real estate is
limited in tabs. Two requests here
4.1 A short title for tab + a long title for actual page (or else a
ellipsis (...) after a certain amount of text)
4.2 An option for *not* displaying a page in tabs

5. Informative. A list of differences (save for the obvious) between
K2/WordPress and K2/Habari. Plus if Charcoal has the same options as
K2/Habari or not.

6. Specific to Chacoal Theme? Variable size for tags in tag cloud,
depending on the frequency. By the way, using font-weight would be
great, if only browser did finally implement the full spectrum of font-
weight (probably once donwloadable fonts will be widely implemented, I
guess)

7. Specific to Chacoal Theme? The "Powered by Habari" logo is, well, a
logo and it looks ugly because it seems to be scaled down on my
installation/browser/screen resolution/whatever

Well, taht is all for now :) Please keep in mind I like Habari a lot.
If I did not I would not bother posting here. Spare the rod and spoil
the child.

Hi David and welcome (again) to Habari :)

I'll try to address mostly the Charcoal related questions here. Hopefully there are others who can answer other questions.

I think most would agree here that this feature is better added via the active theme or at least a plugin. Maybe it's too cosmetic to be added to core. But that's just my personal opinion based on my understanding of the Habari philosophy and hence, subject to discussion like anything else.

2. *Child theming*. I HATE display:block for <code> (plus, typography

Obviously, all the suggestions here are personal preferences and would differ for each user. To address that, and because it's impractical to have every style configurable, I was thinking of adding, as part of the theme options that are going to be added to Charcoal in the upcoming release, a text area box where you can add your own custom CSS. This would be applied after the theme CSS and will allow you to override and change any styling, while keeping the hard code intact for smoother upgrades. Do you think that that implementation would serve your need?

Habari is translated by users and contributers like yourself. If you think you can lend a hand with the translation of Habari, it would be greately appreciated.

This is intentional. The tag cloud that ships with Charcoal theme is intentionally simplified. There is already a plugin for a full fledged tag cloud (RN Tag Cloud). When you activate and configure that plugin, it would automatically override Charcoal's tag cloud.

7. Specific to Chacoal Theme? The "Powered by Habari" logo is, well, a

Hiding the "Powered by Habari logo" is already a configurable "option" that can be set from within the theme's Theme.php. It will still be an option when these configurations are moved to a theme config form for 0.7.
