BikeJam - Good Friday - Please come out and give us a hand

Lister Farrar is doing an incredible amount of work organizing the BikeJam at West Shore Parks and Recreation on Friday this week.

This event will include 7 cycling event stations including the velodrome. Lister is going over to Vancouver today to pick up all of our rental bikes, plus some more of the Burnaby bikes.

 

If you have any time on Friday to come out an help, we would sure appreciate it. There will be hundreds of kids!

I suspect we will need some help getting the bikes set up and maybe some tune up work. The event starts at 10am so we really need some people earlier in the day, say at around 8:30 or 9:00 to help with set up.

 

This is the sort of event that is going to help increase our exposure, and interest young people in taking up the sport. It also demonstrates to WSPRS that we are putting on programs for the general public, especially West Shore residents. This will help ensure the long term survival of our facility.

Alas, Burnaby was unwilling to loan us any of their bikes.  Too bad, it sounded like they were going to.  Members might want to consider bringing a bike with flat pedals Friday so we can give them all a taste of the cool fast bikes and track. 

And the five I picked up need work: bar tape fixed or replaced (coming unraveled), bar plugs missing, pedals found and installed, (they said they came with none?), chain tension checked and tires pumped. Can anyone do that tomorrow? I will drop them at the track around 9 and return Andre's truck. Then I'm kinda busy with other BikeJam matters tomorrow. I think this is more than can be done Friday morning.
