Subject: Head of the Grand Regatta
The Lakers had another successful weekend at the Head of the Grand, a
regatta hosted by Michigan State University . The competitors at this
regatta included, Michigan State , University of Michigan , Eastern
University , Michigan Tech and Grand Valley State . The Varsity Womens
Four had the most exciting race, beating for the first time a boat from
MSUs Varsity program! Nice work Ladies!! The Novice Mens Eights came in
1st and 3rd, as did the Varsity Mens Fours. The Womens Novice Eights
finished 2nd and 3rd, and were less than 5 seconds off MSUs Varsity
program. The Novice Men and Womens fours both placed at the top of
their flights. The Mens pairs, rowed by the lightweights, took 3rd-7th
with a tie for 4th place in the small boat event. The Varsity Mens
Heavyweight Eight placed first, and the LWT Eight Placed 4th in the
same heat. The Varsity Womens Eight placed 3rd behind two boats from
MSUs Varsity program. The team will spend the upcoming week preparing
for the Head of the Iowa next weekend which is the biggest fall regatta
the whole team will be attending.
