Subject: GVSU Rowing Fall Update
The Lakers' Head Race season is nearing its end. Since September, the
Lakers have christened a new eight-The "Big Bob" Stoll, as well as
six singles named after GV rowing alumnus. The head races the Lakers
have participated in so far have yielded more than twenty medals,
combined between the Varsity and Novice squads!! Parent's Day and the
Alumni row went extraordinarily well, and with tradition holding, the
Alumni men beat the Freshman Novice Eight in a 1,000m sprint. When the
team is not at a regatta, the athletes have been pushing themselves not
only on the water, but strive every Wednesday to gain personal bests on
20 minute erg pieces. As a whole, the team is blending together well,
pushing each other with dedication, determination and class. The team
will finish up the fall season over the next three weekends. The Lakers
will represent this weekend the 28th and 29th at the Head of the Iowa .
The weekend of November 4th and 5th the team will be at the Heritage
Crew Classic or at Head of the Chattahoochee in TN ( depending on
boat). The team will finish up together with a home regatta, the
Frostbite Regatta on Nov. 11th. Bring on the pogies!
