I likely over did it with the glass of oil in the primary case after rinsing it out to keep the clutch from sticking.
Engine running, oil is spewing out along the flywheel shaft.
Is there a seal there? A felt one?
Thanks
Paul

Just a felt washer in there. No oil needed in the clutch case. It gets enough oil mist from the oil that bypasses the felt "seal. Any excess oil will result in the left leg of your trousers being waterproof.
If your clutch is dragging or slipping, a quick rinse or two with kerosene in the clutch case will help. If slipping or dragging persist a half turn on the clutch spring holder might help. No joy? Then it's time for some new clutch plates.

Thanks. I'll get in there.
The bike is only used à few times a year so the clutch sticks to the point of hardly lifting for the first half dozen gear changes. I do rinse it out but the problem reappears at the first lay up.

Try using the starting lever and the clutch lever in conjunction with one another to help break the friction if the bike has been sitting a while. A better option is to ride the bike more frequently.

A good problem to have. I tell everyone who visits the shop that all my bikes are for sale, just show me the money.

Yes again.
I've been trying to sell my pristine 750 SFC for a year now. Not a sellers market.

Have you tried/considered tying the clutch lever back to the bar with cable tie or even string to open the clutch pack when you leave it?  I ve heard of the trick but have always managed to free clutch without trying that.  On Ducati I used to start it on centre stand in 1st gear, blip throttle hold in clutch continuously and apply foot brake.  It usually worked. Sometimes just  kicking over on stand , in gear and with clutch held in was enough.

Definitely a buyers market here in the UK.
One can sell virtually anything if one is realist about the price though

I've considered it. I have a bit of inner tube in my pocket for a stubborn Laverda triple.
I'll give it a try.

Yes. I've been watching Vincent's at UK auctions, but I need to sell my SFC to finance that.

sometimes I take a great notion to sell everything: sports cars, old trucks, vintage motorcycles, then take the cash to Italy, buy a Sport 15, do a little touring, and ship it home. Less insurance, less maintenance and less trouble for the heirs when I fall off the perch.

You need buyers to sell.
They're out there but rightly very careful with their money.

The only neutral on my Converts was holding the clutch lever in.  What worked quite well for me was an inch cut off the end of an empty plastic caulking gun tube. Workes on my Ercole also. Slips right on and doesn't require adjustment or tying.

Drained the oil from the primary case, rinsed it out with paraffin and started  the bike up. A bit of residual oil centrifugated out but basically, all's well. I developed a strategy for freeing the clutch before setting off. Having warmed the engine, bike on stand and engine running, hook into first gear and use rear brake. Do that a few times and the clutch frees up. I'll go for a ride tomorrow.
Up to now, setting off after a few weeks or months lay off was dangerous since I couldn't stop without stalling at the end of my driveway. Luckily, it's a quiet village street.

Paul, I find it easier to shift up into second gear to feather the
clutch and brake the rear wheel. After a few slips, the clutch is free
enough to release fully. YMMV.

Doesn't work if you are in a place that does not have a convenient wall!
