Hello all. It's been a while. First I want to say welcome to any new members out there.

second, I encountered something that flipped me out  on Sunday. I was walking in an unfamiliar neighborhood to get some exercise with Gatsby and I realized that there was no wheelchair ramp at the street crossings. This would have been fine had I been using my cane but G and I are so used to working with those that I had to rework several crossings. How can I fix this next time I encounter this ? I'm thinking of rustin where this might happen every day.

I want to come out alive. and no there was no traffic guide at all witch would have helped in this unfamiliar place.
Thanks.

Hi there, Sarah. These are stupid questions but I need to ask
them to better understand your experience. Maybe I can help.
How did you know it was a street if there was no traffic guide or
wheelchair ramp? What was Gatsby's reaction when she crossed the
street? I guess the only thing you can do is to have her do a
formal stop (sit at the beginning of your street crossing) and
point it out to her. Perhaps she'll generalize from one similar
street to the next. I haven't met her so I don't know her
personality, but from listening to her on your podcasts, she
seems very bright. I hope this helps.

IF there's not a ramp, then your dog should stop at the curb. Does she not do this? or is it a blended curb?

I got told by someone who was waching the whole thing. and there is no wealchair ramp or nothing to signify a "to the curb"
command. I had this problem where I lived before but i have not a clue how I solved it as it's ben for ever since it happened,
almost 4 years. I could try the sit thing but the curner is so sutle, I can hardly feel it if i'm not paying attention. Now she
will stop at ramps but this particular neighberhood is merder to walk and work in.

Thanks. and no the questions are not stupid at all!

Theer is no ramp. She did stop but th estreet crossing was so bad I had to work a few times until we got  used  to this particular sutuation. Normally she does stop at curbs and stairs and the like but this is a strange  one! She did well at a very strange street crossing where there was no sign, nothing. it was sort of a driveway, but i'm straying. Oh btw, this was at night.

Well we'll see what happens if I ever get in to this situation again. I probably will put myself in to that situation on purpose at some other time when I know the area. Like my worut othe lcb school. I'll have to work her a half mile and we will ave to do a lot of those I think.
