*Minutes of the May 25 / 10 GSP meeting held at*
*Coutts and Company, Perth, Ont.*
*Participants:* Rita, Tom, Terry, Vivian, Liz, Keith, Paul, Regan,
Graeme, Tom, Ron, Jim and Nancy
1- *Welcome* to all by Tom � no new members to introduce.
2- Paul accepted to be *chairperson*, and Ron to be *note taker*.
3- *Agenda* items were reviewed with a few items added (see below).
4- *Minutes of last meeting* were approved (moved by Rita and seconded
by Regan).
*5- **Events / Presentations*
a. *AGM *scheduled for Sun. June 6^th at the Factory Grind in Perth.
i. *Action Item:* Paul and vol(s) to set up before meeting � need to
check with Al as to when they can gain access.
ii. *Action Item*: Keith to collect projector and screen from Algonquin
College.
iii. Reviewed proposed AGM agenda, and under the item renewal of Board
members � Nancy indicated that she would accept to join the board, to
gain knowledge / experience for becoming a full fledge member when the
next director moves on (expected towards the end of this 2010 2011
fiscal year).
b. *Carleton Place Bazaar* scheduled for July 3 / 10: Graeme is prime
with GSP�s involvement at this event; a few volunteers from Ottawa have
shown interest in helping out (i.e. Ross, Liz, etc).
c. *Blue Sky*: Tom indicated that last year we had made $1200 from the
collection of bottles � Volunteers to date for this coming year are
Terry, Tom, Jim and Nancy.
i. *Action Item:* (1) Jim to contact Jessica Strauss to see if she�s
interested in joining us at the AGM, June 6, and (2) to investigate her
interest in taking over the responsibility of pursuing the Carbon Credit
project from a GSP perspective.
d. *Ottawa Folk Festival* scheduled for Aug 14 / 15: Liz indicated that
the GSP has been invited to participate, and she will keep us posted. To
date a few Ottawa volunteers have shown interest in helping out.
e. *Perth** Kiwanis Presentation: *Thomas reported that he and his dad,
Al, presented a slide show to about 40 people at the Perth restaurant
and that there was significant interest, judging from the amount of
questions asked.
f. *Sharbot** Lake** Anglican Church:* Tom and Mike Else* *are scheduled
to do this one on Oct. 7 / 10.* *
6- *School Nutrition Program:* Keith provided the following status:
a. $1,000 = Lombardi Public School
b. Glen Tay = $870
c. PDCI = $ 760
d. St. John Elem. School =$870
e. Carenbec =$530
f. Maplefest =$340
g. $ = 360 bracelets provided to Drummond Center school
h. Strawberry festival planned for June 26^th
i. Currently we expect to have secured most of the money required for
this year�s school nutritional plan.
ii. Next year we expect to continue generating money from the schools
who participated this year, plus Chemo school in Smith Falls and Smith
Falls Collegiate.

developed for the schools participating in this program J
7- *Eric�s Firewood*: *Action Item*: Tom, Keith, Regan and Paul have
agreed to cord Eric�s firewood on Monday, June 7^th at 5:30 pm.
*Action item:* Tom to inform Eric accordingly.
*8- **Guatemala** hit by Hurricane Agatha: *
*a. *Appears to be much worse than Hurricane Stan.**
*b. *Canadian media reporting 100,000 people left homeless**
*c. *Celina and her six friends currently in Guatemala are safe and not
injured, as is our three partners Jose, Clara and Ruben.**
*d. *GSP sent $10,000 each to Clara and Ruben last week for stove
building but have since been advised that they can use the money for
emergency relief if that is what they deem is more responsible given the
chance in situation. **
*e. **Action Item:* Nancy and Jim to contact the Ottawa Citizen, EMC and
other papers to see if they would be willing to include an article from
the GSP. **
*Action Item:* Tom / Rita to inquire if Celina or others would be
interested / available to write a press release. **

*9- **Nov 20 / 10 Perth Fundraiser: *
*Action Item: *Keith will try and secure the main band and the hall for
the evening. He will also contact Jack Herd from PDCI to see if there
are any local groups who would be interested in opening the evening.* *
*Action Item:: *Thomas to sell tickets (to friends) at **PDCI and
interface with the school re. logistics of promoting the event.
*Action Item:: *Paul and Sue will participate in this event again this
year and will try and recruit Huguette Cote.
*Action Item:: *Terry to contact Brad Mills re. music.

*10- **Cogeco Energy: *They interviewed Paul and Tom re. the upcoming
AGM , and the four minute interview can be heard via the following link **

*11-Stewart Park Festival *scheduled for July 24, 25 & 26 / 10.* *
*Action Item: *Keith to inquire if the GSP can be the designated charity
at this year�s event, and if affirmative, he�ll* *inquire at the AGM how
many volunteers are interested in participating, before committing
ourselves.* *

*12-Next meeting scheduled for Monday, Sept 13 at 6:30 pm (Note the new
time!!!)*
