Hi,

Just I want to let you know that I'm dropping my linux images for the
beagleboard with a kernel with the latest dspbridge branch and misc bits
around dspbridge (gst-dsp, libbridge-ti, openmax-ti, etc. but they are not
currently verified).

http://people.igalia.com/vjaquez/beagle/

The images are generated using a custom OE overlay:

Hi,

I've your demo running in my beagleboard, but no framebuffer or
x-server is present. Then how can I test the videoplaying ?
The dsp-ping is working ok, then the bridgedriver is loaded ok,
but when I play a video I get the next messages:

# gst-launch playbin2 uri=file://$PWD/big_buck_bunny_720p_surround.avi

Any bootargs are needed? I'm using

setenv bootargs console=ttyS2,115200n8 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw
rootdelay=1 devfs=mount omapfb.mode=dvi:800x600MR-16@60
omapfb.vram=0:2M,1:4M

or

setenv bootargs console=ttyS2,115200n8 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw
rootdelay=1 devfs=mount omapfb.mode=dvi:800x600MR-16@60
omapfb.vram=0:2M,1:4M mem=99M@0x80000000 mem=128M@0x88000000

with no luck

The previous builds I didn't take care of the gst-dsp package until today ;)

But I changed the recipe today for the new dsp API (ioctl numbers) and I could
play a video.

Thanks

Hi again!

I've tried your bootargs with no luck. It's weird. I've a beagleboard
rev C3...
The 'modules-2.6.33-dspbridge+git07e018-r71-beagleboard.tgz' is needed
some way??

Do you see anything through your DVI output? I've a text console, the
typical with
the Angstrom message and login prompt. The Angstrom version version is
2010.4-test-20100504. I logged into, go to the videos directory and
try to play one:

# gst-launch playbin2 uri=file://$PWD/big_buck_bunny_720p_surround.avi

That tarball contains all the compiled modules, but they are not mandatory.

Yep, I can see a test video, which I grab from here (I had just uploaded them)

http://people.igalia.com/vjaquez/beagle/patterns/

test.avi is what I've tested, and it is rendered fine in my B6 beagleboard.

Do you mind share with me your test file?

Which kernel are you loading?

# uname -a

Which modules do you have loaded?

notifications???

My kernel config is this

CONFIG_MPU_BRIDGE=m
CONFIG_BRIDGE_MEMPOOL_SIZE=0x600000
# CONFIG_BRIDGE_DEBUG is not set
# CONFIG_BRIDGE_RECOVERY is not set
# CONFIG_BRIDGE_CACHE_LINE_CHECK is not set

The notifications are disabled, why are they shown to you?

These codecs cannot decode 720p. I think the biggest resolution is WVGA.

You're right!! With the 'test.avi' uploaded by Victor I can see the
DSP
in action.

Thanks!!

Yes, I've downloaded it from http://www.bigbuckbunny.org/

I don't know, but it's easy to view because your kernel exports the
config
through the /proc/config.gz, and I can see:

CONFIG_BRIDGE_NETFILTER=y
# CONFIG_BRIDGE_NF_EBTABLES is not set
CONFIG_BRIDGE=m
CONFIG_BRIDGE_MEMPOOL_SIZE=0x600000
# CONFIG_BRIDGE_DEBUG is not set
# CONFIG_BRIDGE_RECOVERY is not set
# CONFIG_BRIDGE_CACHE_LINE_CHECK is not set
# CONFIG_BRIDGE_WDT3 is not set
# CONFIG_BRIDGE_NTFY_PWRERR is not set

The problem seems to be the video as Felipe pointed.

Thanks!

Hi,

Victor, can you test the video:
http://download.blender.org/peach/bigbuckbunny_movies/big_buck_bunny_480p_surround-fix.avi
It's the 480p version from the video I was testing. It has sound too.
The video info from ffplay is:

Input #0, avi, from 'big_buck_bunny_480p_surround-fix.avi':
Duration: 00:09:56.45, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 2895 kb/s
Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg4, yuv420p, 854x480 [PAR 1:1 DAR 427:240],
24 tbr, 24 tbn, 24 tbc
Stream #0.1: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, 5.1, s16, 448 kb/s
29.82 A-V: -0.011 aq= 81KB vq= 688KB sq= 0B

I can play the video but it's not decoded right... it seems incorrect
line pitch...

Felipe, where can I find the video stream specs in order to play ok
with the TI codecs? It seems
there are codecs to mpeg4, h264 but where I can see that it must be
WVGA, etc...

Regards,
Jorge

This could be a problem in gst-dsp, or the video sink. I might have
forgotten a patch for resolutions not multiples of 16 (like 854).

I'm not sure where you can find that information, but in general it's
WVGA, and H.264 only base profile (no CABAC). Resolutions multiples of
16 are generally better, but shouldn't be required.

Cheers.

The given video plays ok with your demo image, Victor!! With my demo
image using the 2.6.32-felipec1 I can play the test.avi ok but the
big_buck_bunny_480p_surround-fix.avi video looks bad.

My image uses the codecs from tiopenmax-0.3.5 and the Victor one, uses
the codecs from DSPbinaries-3.09... maybe that's the problem, I can't
see it right.

In order to use the latest kernel branch use the latest release of the socket
nodes.
