They're two of HardwareGrowler's notifications, so they'll be under
HardwareGrowler in the Applications tab. You can turn them off there.

Note that HardwareGrowler doesn't allow you to enable or disable
notifications per device—it's all devices or none.

Yes.

You're using an old version of Growl. We removed Growl from its own
applications tab in 1.1. Also, none of those notifications have
anything to do with devices being connected or disconnected, as you
could tell by reading their names.

There's no mention of Growl anywhere in the mouse's preferences.

Of course not. We don't modify other people's preference panes,
including Apple's.

Moving something to the Trash doesn't delete it. The Trash is a
temporary holding area, in case you change your mind. Only when you
*empty* the Trash is it really deleted.

You won't be able to empty the trash until you have stopped Growl,
because it is still running. Move the prefpane back to the Home/
Library/PreferencePanes folder, then open it, then click Stop Growl.
Then move the prefpane back to the Trash and empty the Trash.

In the Growl prefpane.

It does.

Hm?

Yeah, our uninstall procedure is to run a program on the Growl disk
image. Of course, if you install Growl from another application, you
don't get the uninstaller. I'd say that's a bug.

Ah, right—you were thinking that the mouse driver might support Growl
itself.

Yes, please. I think you can just go to the group page, login using
your Google Account, and upload it.

Have you restarted your computer (or logged out and back in) since
doing this and therefore causing Growl to disappear from the System
Prefs?

Are you sure that this is HardwareGrowler at work?
1) J~ makes no mention of running HardwareGrowler; it doesn't sound
like he has it installed.
2) HardwareGrowler would not, so far as I am aware, have any
knowledge of a "Logitech Control Center". That's a program Logitech
makes which allows configuration of a Logitech USB or Bluetooth mouse,
not a name sent via the USB bus.

Is it possible that this is like the google notifier where they have
notifications that look like growl notifications, but actually aren't?

Cheers,

Shawn

Ah, good catch. I didn't notice that in the screenshot that he sent
to me privately rather than uploading to the Google Groups files page.

J~, Logitech Control Center has its own notifications. That's not
Growl in the screenshot; it's LCC.

(How'd I find that out? I downloaded LCC from the Logitech website,
then used Pacifist to look through its Installer package. Inside
LCCDaemon.app are two nibs: NotificationSquareWindow.nib, and
NotificationWideWindow.nib. These seem to be a Bezel-alike and Smoke-
alike, though it's hard to tell because they're just plain Aqua when
you look at them in IB.)

I don't think this can be Growl's notification, then.

Yes, and please let us know what they have to say about it.

Seeing the screenshot, it's clear why it was thought to be Growl - it
looks just like the Bezel display.

Deleting the nib files would probably silence the notification with no
ill effects; I haven't tested that, and your mileage may vary.
