Growl Mail 1.2.4 doesn't work. There is no Growl Mail tab in Mail
altho it is visible in the Sys pref pane. It doesn't put up a
notification and doesn't make a notification sound.This is on a G5
running 10.5.8 and Mail 3.6

GrowlMail is not in system preferences. It will only show in mail.

Are you sure that you installed GrowlMail and not just Growl?

Yes, there is a System Preferences panel in system preferences. No
Growl Mail in the Mail prefs. I used the uninstallers to remove,
presumably, previous versions of Growl/Growl Mail and I did install
the new version of Growl Mail separately with the aid of the "fixer" .
Currently I'm running on a back up drive where Growl and Growl mail
still works, that is version 1.2.2 and I am thinking of just running
on that drive as its version of my system is only 2 days old.

This is the same problem I reported some days ago.
I was told to wait for a solution but I'm still waiting for it ;-)

Sorry, I forgot to add the link to the thread I mentioned and it

This is a mailing list with a web frontend, which is why you can't modify the post you made.

The Fixer is for installation of GrowlMail (which is why it's called the GrowlMail Installation Fixer), not Grow

Question to both you and André: Is there any output from Mail in the Console application? If so, please send it to us.

I should have thought about saving an output, but I've already backed
out of this latest installation of Growl and gone back to the earlier
version.

Why go back to an earlier version of Growl? That doesn't have anything to do with GrowlMail not showing up.

Because I didn't have the time to troubleshoot what the precise
problem was and backing out from GrowlMail thru the use of Time
Machine didn't resolve the issue.

If you didn't have the time to troubleshoot, why did you start this thread? That seems contradictory and also a bit rude...

I'm not here to troll and certainly rudeness wasn't my intent. I
backed out after I started the thread and I'll continue to monitor it
because I'd like to install the newer versions.

Well sure, I'm not saying that you are a troll at all. But seeing as how all of this work has already been put into this, I'm not sure as to why you'd want to waste that and just revert, to possibly have the same problem again later.

I appreciate all the work done on Growl and Growl Mail, I think it's a
great application and most useful, even necessary. Reverting wasn't a
much work on my end, but I'll tell you what, how about I install it on
one of my other drives and see if I can recreate the issue?

Christopher Forsythe

Ok Christopher, I've got Growl 1.2.2 installed as a pref pane, there
is nothing Growl related in Mail prefs. I installed GrowlMail 1.2.4
with the aid of Growlmail Fixer and it does Growl Mail does not work.

I confess total ignorance as to what or why those input mangagers do.
I don't know why Unsanity shows up in a search of "Growl". I do use
Unsanity's Sound manager (Xounds) for system sounds.

Input managers essentially get added to part of the process, or injected.

It makes sense you having these since you use xounds.

I use Xounds only and have APE ( Application Enhancer) installed, I
have LabelsX and Moab turned off.

So, I accidentally built GrowlMail 1.2.4 as an Intel-only release. My fault for not fixing that in the project (Xcode 3.2.6 changed a predefined setting we use) before shipping.

Here's 1.2.5:

Please let us know whether this fixes it for you.

actually, all the extras for the current release were all built intel-
only.

Good point. Fortunately, there were no other significant user-facing changes in version 1.2.2 of the Extras, so PowerPC users who are interested in growlnotify, GrowlTunes, GrowlSafari, or HardwareGrowler can simply use 1.2.1.

1.3 will drop support for Leopard in all of our products, which means we will implicitly drop PowerPC support (since Snow Leopard doesn't work on PowerPC, either).

Thanks, yes indeed, GrowlMail 1.2.5 does work and installs into Mail.
So, do I turn off GrowlMail in the System pref pane?

Or we could just re-release 1.2.2 with remade extras, so that issues like the one this guy had don't show up.

Cool. I'll finish up the release this morning.

Why?

It has worked for me. I started a thread at the end of may with the
same issues. http://groups.google.com/group/growldiscuss/browse_thread/thread/faca93e52b78a728

And after trying everything that was suggested I had given up
completely that I would have growl mail on my powerbook again. Good
thing I checked backed the threads again. I had to run the growl mail
installation fixer but after that everything runs perfect. Thanks for
the fix!
