to growl for windows
Hello,
I love Growl thank you for creating it. Windows Media Center has
become even more awesome!!
Currently I am using a program called "Blurts", which sends caller ID
over Bluetooth to my PC from My Blackberry. I have tried everything
short of writing a program that would allow for these notification to
show up in Media Center. I believe that Growl is the way to go.
Currently all Notifications from Blurts appear on my Desktop, however
When Media Center is in Full Screen there is no way for these
notifications to been seen.
It would be great if somehow Growl could pick up on these Blurts
notifications and send them via the /media Center plug-in. Thank you
again.

Here is some info that might help:
http://treas0n.blogspot.com/2010/01/grip-growl-notifications-in-media.html

I believe that plugin allows any Growl notification to be forwarded to
Media Center, which will then display it inside of Media Center.

If you question is how to get the Blurts notifications routed through
Growl in the first place, I am probably not very helpful. Growl doesnt
actively listen for or hooking into notifications - instead, apps (or
plugins, etc) have to send notifications to Growl. In this case, I am
not sure if the app/plugin/script that runs on your PC has any kind of
extensibility features or allows you to modify it in anyway, but if it
does, you would hook into the app and when it receives an incoming
notification, it would then send the notification information to Growl
(which could then send it to Media Center - lots of hoops). You could
try the growlnotify
(http://www.growlforwindows.com/gfw/help/growlnotify.aspx) script for
sending the notification information on to Growl.

If none of that works or makes sense, maybe post up a bit more info
and maybe somebody here will be able to figure out a solution or have
more experience with your set-up.

Actually this is the whole reason I'm using Growl. Treasons plug-in is really fantastic. But unfortunately there is no connection between my blackberry and media center (or growl) which would be awesome. I use treasons plug-in and the rss plug-in to get updates from certain tv sites in media center and also utorrent plug-ins to let me know when shows are ready to watch in media browser (a really fantastic WMC add-on). A caller id from my blackberry would tie up my HTPC in a nice package. Thank you for the reply. I suppose I'll wait and see what sort of new plug-ins will become available for Growl.
