Team,

I cannot seem to find any info on the (OS) requirements of GfW. I'm
trying to install on Windows 2000 Server but it fails. (no I cannot
upgrade, it would just be great if it worked ;-)

"Unable to get installer types in the "C:\Program Files\Growl for
Windows\growl.exe assembly. --> Unable to load one or more of the
requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more
information.

Cheers

Growl for Windows is only supported on XP and newer operating systems.

That said, I do know of one other person that had it running on
Windows 2000, but that was a few versions ago and I do not know if it
ran 100% correctly or not. GfW does require the .NET runtime (version
2.0), so make sure that is installed first. Otherwise, there is not
much other help I can offer since I dont even have a W2K machine to
test it on.

You can run Snarl (a Growl-compatible alternative) on Windows 2000 if that's any use to you?

Thank you for the suggestions.

Snarl: can't use it because I specifically need Growl for other
applications to integrate with
Win2k: Will move away from W2k

So I will start planning to migrate my system to W7 or XP...

Not wanting to labor the point, but if the applications use GNTP or GrowlNet to communicate then they will work fine with Snarl (the Snarl guys will want to know if they don't). Just another option while you're migrating to XP or W7...
