You don't have to do anything (and *cant* do anything) to make apps register. If an application supports Growl, it will register itself with Growl automatically, usually when the other application is first opened (assuming Growl is also running).
 
Other apps don't support Growl natively and need a plugin/extension/add-on to add Growl support. If there are specific apps that you are hoping to use with Growl, I suggest you visit http://www.growlforwindows.com/gfw/apps.aspx and see what steps are required (if any) to get each app to support Growl. Or you can post up some of the apps that you hope to use here and I can try to give you the necessary instructions.

Yeah! i have the same question. install growl in to windows 8. start and  no applications registered.

i m look for some utility to add app in too list and look for configs no luck. what i need to do.


PS! for Developers! U need explane how do this in your tutorial. not found it there. i mean how to register apps in growl
