I had never heard of GrowlNotifier before, but I watched a short video about it and it looks pretty easy to set up.

To start, you don't need to use the ‘Subscriptions’ functionality in GfW at all - that is for something else.

Open GfW and go to the Security tab. Make sure ‘Allow network notifications’ is checked, and add a password to the Password Manager (it can be anything, but you will need to remember it so you can add the same one on your phone).

In GrowlNotifier, make sure you enter the right IP address (the local IP address of your PC) and the port should be 23053 (the default - in your post you wrote 2503 so maybe that was just a typo). Enter the same password that you created in GfW.

That should be it. I don't have an iOS device to test it on, but it should work with those settings.

hey,

i sadly cant get it working properly. i want to push my ios-push messages from my iphone onto my pc, using GFW.

in network tab i checked the box,  "subscribe to notifications from other computers" i added my iphones wlan local ip adress, "192.168.2.10x:2503" and entered a password, on windows the growl client keeps saying: "invalid password".

is there maybe a documentation how to set it up properly? im not sure wether i have used the right ip adresses or not.

(on my iphone i said the server is 192.168.2.103 (local wlan ipv4 adress of my windows pc?)

greetings

Actually, you don't need to enter the port unless you're using a non-standard one. If you leave it blank it uses the default. I use the notifier mostly to let me know when I have missed calls and texts since I can't have my iPhone and computer near each other due to a quirk of how cellphone signals penetrate the walls :)

Here is a video that shows how to set up GrowlNotifier. It shows how to set it up on a Mac, but the steps are similar for a PC. In Growl for Windows, go to the Security tab and make sure 'Require Password for LAN apps' is checked and so is 'Allow network notifications'. Click the green + button below the 'Password Manager' and add a password, then make sure GrowlNotifier is set up to use the same password.
